Trekking-specific terms and conditions. Read before booking. This is a legal agreement.

What We Do

Japan Treks LLC organizes guided multi-day mountain treks in Japan. Our service includes: route planning, hut reservations, permit applications where required, professional mountain guides, transport coordination from trailheads, and pre-trip briefing.

Our treks involve hiking in mountainous terrain with elements of mountaineering including exposure to heights, steep terrain, potential altitude effects (up to 3,776m), and variable weather conditions. Some routes require the use of crampons, ice axes, and fixed ladder sections. You will be required to sign a liability waiver and assumption of risk document before participating.

Booking & Payment

01A 40% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm your booking.
02The remaining balance is due 14 days before the trek start date.
03Bookings made within 14 days of the start date require full payment at time of booking.
04All prices are in Japanese Yen (JPY) and include consumption tax.

Cancellations

Weather Cancellation (by us)

If we cancel due to dangerous weather conditions, you receive a full credit toward a future trek of equal or lesser value. No cash refund, but the credit never expires. Weather decisions are made by the guide team and are final.

Client Cancellation

We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers trip cancellation and mountain rescue. We can suggest providers upon request.

Fitness Requirement

We reserve the right to turn back any participant who, in the judgment of the guide, is unfit to continue safely. This decision is made for group safety and is not negotiable. No refund will be given if you are turned back due to fitness, altitude sickness, or inadequate preparation. If you are unsure about your fitness level, contact us before booking.

Liability & Risk

Mountain trekking and mountaineering are inherently dangerous activities. Risks include but are not limited to: falls, rockfall, weather exposure, altitude sickness, animal encounters, and injury in remote locations where evacuation may be delayed.

By booking, you acknowledge these risks and agree to hold Japan Treks LLC harmless for any injury, loss, or damage except in cases of gross negligence. You must sign our liability waiver before the trek begins. Participation without a signed waiver is not permitted.

Governing Law

This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Denver County, Colorado.
