Day by Day
Day 1
10 km+600 m5–6 hrsTakijiri-oji to Tsugizakura-oji. Moss-covered stone steps, cedar forest. Gentle climbs. First taste of the old road.
Day 2
12 km+800 m7–8 hrsTsugizakura to Kumano Hongu Taisha. The longest day. Pass through small villages. Hongu Taisha grand shrine at the end.
Day 3
8 km+400 m4–5 hrsHongu to Nachi via bus and trail. Visit Nachi Taisha and the waterfall. Shorter walking day with cultural stops.
Day 4
6 km+200 m3–4 hrsCoastal walk and final shrine visit. Optional onsen soak before train to Osaka.

Physical Prep
Moderate fitness. Daily distances are 6–12 km on uneven stone paths. Some sections are slippery when wet. Suitable for regular walkers.

Yuki Sato grew up in Tanabe, 200 meters from the trailhead. She knows every shrine keeper by name and which lodges have the best bathwater. Her trail name is "Yuki of the Kodo."
